Al Sila Hospital

Located in the western region of Abu Dhabi, close to the border with Saudi Arabia, Al Sila Hospital will deliver worldclass healthcare to the community. The facility will contain 35 beds and provide services such as general medicine, paediatrics, and gynaecology.

The Challenge: When iTech was appointed to support the Contractor on this hospital project, construction on-site was well underway. At this point in time, the main MEP services design coordination issues were unresolved. iTech was appointed to find design coordination solutions, which will have the minimum effect on the structural and architectural design and not cause further delay to the project.

The Solution: With the use of Revit MEP modeling and Navisworks clash detection, iTech was able to identify all problematic areas and provide coordination solutions by re-thinking the initial 2D output due to a better comprehension of the virtual environment. Changes in HVAC design and alternative routing of MEP services where recommended and implemented.

The Result: Costly solutions previously proposed such as elevating the slab height, widening the main corridors or creating new shafts to accommodate the MEP coordination issues were abandoned, which provided substantial cost savings for the Owner. The Client was able to identify all problematic areas before executing the construction work and present a working solution to the Owner.
